Care home review will be published after trials end

A FORMAL review into the Winterbourne View scandal will be published only after court proceedings have finished.

Health Minister Paul Burstow told MPs yesterday the serious case review into events at the now-closed residential hospital near Bradley Stoke will only be published after the trials of two former members of staff on ill-treatment allegations have been completed, along with the sentencing of nine ex-staff who pleaded guilty. But he said an interim report by the Department of Health will be published in the summer "in recognition of the seriousness of this issue".
