Cancer patients invited to Bristol hospital open day
CANCER sufferers and their families are being invited to an open day at Southmead Hospital to learn more about the illness.
The free event on Thursday, November 20, is a chance for patients, carers and members of the medical profession to find out more.
Talks will be given on the latest research developments and patients's experiences on living with cancer.
There will also be a presentation from Penny Brohn Cancer Care about supporting people to live with and beyond cancer and a look behind the scenes of investigating the disease.
NBT's assistant lead cancer nurse, Marika Hills, said: "This is the fifth annual cancer services open day organised by North Bristol and the event has gone from strength to strength.
"There will be a forum of presentations from key speakers throughout the day designed to be of interest to professionals, patients and carers regarding developments in the field of cancer care.
"We are very fortunate to have Professor Mike Richards the national cancer director attending."
The session is being held in the Centre for Medical Education from 10am to 4pm. For more information call Marika Hills on 950 5050 extension 2125, Gail Kemp on 959 5210, or email marika.hills @nbt.nhs.uk or gail.kemp@nbt.nhs.uk
