Paulton Rovers are not expecting Norwich boss Paul Lambert to take any chances of ending up on the wrong end of an FA Cup upset by fielding a weakened side for the first round clash.

Five divisions separate the two sides ahead of the clash at Winterfield Road today – the sort of tie that holds the potential for Lambert to end up with egg on his face.

"I know (former Bristol City skipper) Tommy Doherty," said Paulton assistant boss Paul Milson. "He played under Paul Lambert at Wycombe and he told me there is no way that he will be treating us with anything other than respect.

"I don't expect him to play anything other than his strongest team. This is exactly the sort of game that they didn't want for their first time in the first round since 1960 and everyone there will be determined not to be on the end of a giant-killing."

Lambert took over the reigns at Carrow Road shortly after leading his former club Colchester to a 7-1 mauling of the Canaries on the opening day of the season that quickly brought an end to ex-manager Bryan Gunn's time in charge.

Since then Lambert has masterminded an impressive upturn in form to catapult Norwich into the top six.

They are a particularly potent attacking force with triumvirate Grant Holt (12), Wes Hoolahan (6) and Chris Martin (5) sharing 23 goals between them this season.

Scottish wide player Simon Lappin provides additional creativity to a midfield where Hoolahan is offered an advanced and free role to cause havoc. Darel Russell and promising 18-year-old Korey Smith, who was discovered in the local Sunday League, offer a mix of industry, energy and aggression in the centre of the park.

Former Spurs and Republic of Ireland international Gary Doherty organises a frugal back four that also includes Danish centre-back Jens Berthel Askou.

Long-serving defender Adam Drury plays at left-back, while young academy product George Francombe has been offered a chance on the other side because of injuries to Jon Otsemobor and Michael Spillane in recent weeks.

On-loan Newcastle United goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who spent a four game spell at Bristol Rovers earlier this season, has not been allowed to play in the FA Cup by the Magpies, so Declan Rudd will play in his place.
