Calls have been made to abandon a series of bus cuts that passengers say will leave them stranded.

Bristol City Council wants to withdraw funding for a number of services on evenings, Sundays and bank holidays on the number 52, seven and five bus routes into the city centre.

The authority says the services, which cover Highridge, Downend and Staple Hill, aren't used enough to justify the running costs.

Instead the council propose to offer a Dial-a-Ride service for qualifying vulnerable people.

The Tories have tabled a several questions for tonight's council meeting, calling for the cuts to be ditched.
