Cadbury Heath keep up the pressure in runners-up race
Gloucestershire Youth League: Cadbury Heath remain in contention for runners-up spot as an exciting race involving Forest Green Rovers and Wotton Rovers hots up.
Heath bounced back from a 3-1 midweek defeat by Forest Green by defeating Cheltenham Saracens 3-0. Victory by the same margin or more against the same opponents will give Heath a chance of leapfrogging Forest Green, who have finished their fixture programme, into second place.
Heath took the lead against Saracens with a 20-yard shot from Charlie Stevens and Kris Lee made it 2-0 midway through the second half.
Saracens missed a great opportunity to pull a goal back and paid the price when Tom Sellars volleyed a poor goalkeeping clearance into an unguarded net.
Wotton kept alive their hopes of a second-place finish with a 4-1 win over Shirehampton thanks to two goals from Tom Woods, plus strikes by Richard Thwaite and Tom Stubbs. Dan Griffiths netted Shirehampton's consolation goal.
The derby between Thornbury Town and Winterbourne United ended 1-1, David Watola scoring for Thornbury and Dave Herbert for Winterbourne.
Bristol Manor Farm finished their season with a 5-1 win at Longwell Green Sports, although the size of the success flattered Farm.
Jay Harrison (2), Jordan Rogers (2) and Ashley Palmer netted for Farm, with Sam Baker on target for Sports.
