Cabot Circus – Bristol's new £500 million shopping centre – has won another award.

The British Council of Shopping Centres award is the fourth prize the Bristol Alliance project has won in as many weeks.

BCSC, which represents the retail property industry, has presented Bristol Alliance partners Land Securities and Hammerson with its Supreme Gold Award 2008 for outstanding

It is the fourth industry award to have been presented to the Bristol Alliance for Cabot Circus.

In addition to winning the BCSC Supreme Gold, the scheme was also awarded a BCSC Gold for the best "In Town Retail Scheme of more than 300,000 square feet".

Cabot Circus also beat an international shortlist in November to win the MAPIC EG Retail Award for Best Shopping Centre of the Year 2008.

It has also received the European Standard Parking Award.

Designed by seven different architectural firms, Cabot Circus includes 140 new shops, including department stores for House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols, 15 flagship stores and over 25 new cafes and restaurants.

BCSC's panel of judges said: "The attention to detail throughout the scheme is exemplary and is seen in the design detailing, the artwork, the shop fronts and the customer facilities.

"Overall an excellent example of the creation of a new quarter within a city centre."

Bob De Barr, Bristol Alliance project director, said: "These latest awards are a major tribute to all those who have contributed to the creation of Cabot Circus."

City council leader Helen Holland said: "Many congratulations to our partners in the Bristol Alliance on these latest well-deserved awards.

"The recognition that Cabot Circus is winning from industry and regeneration bodies is a great boost for our city and adds to our growing international reputation.

"Bristol has the ambition to match any city in the UK and Europe for the quality of our regeneration programmes, urban design and architecture."

“Dear Tony, Merry Christmas to you as well Sir! It's relly nice sharing our great city with so many forward thinking people who equally offer nice feedback about Bristol, I wish you all well.
But we are all better here than to generalise people in our comments. Please treat people as individuals and treat them as you would like to be treated.
Last time I met a Somalian person, he was just 19 years old, very nice, well mannered, could speak several languages and brought a lot of talent to Bristol. He wasn't here through choice but came to escape a world we would hate to live in and a world we would all like to make better. He is now living in Africa where he plans to start a new business to help others from the love and charity that he received from the people of Bristol.”

Plea to the editors of BEP-
Bristol deserves a Local NEWS Paper; please stop spewing out whatever press releases you receive from commercial companies disguised as 'News'”

“Richard, are you angling for a PR job, or have you already got one?

"The @Bristol complex with all the new restaurants which haven't yet opened..."

Either you're being sarcastic in an overly subtle way or you're really desperate for that PR job.”
