Cabot Circus hotel set to open
The new £20 million Cabot Circus hotel will open its doors next week – with some of biggest beds in the city.
The 149-bedroom Future Inns hotel in Bond Street South will boast a bar, restaurant, conference facilities and a basement jazz club.

And it will include giant Canadian designed beds. They are 6ft 11in long and 6ft 4in wide.
The hotel also has a conference suite on the top floor which can cater for up to 400 people.
After being covered in scaffolding since the beginning of the year, the colourful facade of the new Cabot Circus hotel was unveiled earlier this month.
Jenny Lockyer, spokeswoman for Future Inns, said: "The hotel will offer a bar, a unique steak and chophouse restaurant and free parking for 100 vehicles.
"The basement floor will host a jazz club, which will showcase national and local artists.
"The hotel is due to open its doors next week but we cannot give an exact date at the moment as final preparations are being made."
But the last two pieces of land earmarked for development as part of the £500 million shopping area still stand empty.
The economic downturn means it is unclear when work will start on offices planned for land next to the car park at the foot of the M32 or on a landmark building proposed for the corner of Castle Park.
In June last year, the Post revealed that a futuristic pavilion could be built at the corner of Castle Park opposite Harvey Nichols housing a cafe and other leisure facilities for shoppers and residents in Broadmead.
London architect firm ACME Space won the tender to design the scheme in a competition run by developer Bristol Alliance in a joint venture between Hammerson and Land Securities.
But plans have fallen by the wayside in the recession since the Cabot Circus development opened in September last year and now the ACME scheme is only one of several options for the site.
Bristol Alliance property director Steve Wehrle said: "We are currently considering a number of potential options for the site at Castle Park corner and will need to assess all of these fully before making a final decision.
"The current economic conditions have inevitably impacted our original time scale for development in this area but we are continuing discussions with Bristol City Council, Shopmobility and other potential users and will provide a further update in due course."
Work on two office blocks on disused land at the end of the M32, in front of the Cabot Circus car park, was expected to start at the beginning of the year.
But construction is yet to start on transforming the land in Newfoundland Street into 20,000 sq m Cabot Gate, which will partially conceal the 2,500-space car park.
The two seven-storey office buildings have received planning permission but developer CBRE has applied to Bristol City Council to make alterations to the original plans.

“I think Mike if you contact one of the sales team at the new Future Inn Hotel at Cabot Circus they will be happy to give you a tour of the new hotel and I am sure you will be happy that the size of the bedrooms are far larger than most hotels in Bristol.I look forward to seeing your amended comments.”

“I don't care what final preparations are necessary, how on earth can you not have an opening date with 1 week to go? Even the halfwits on The Apprectice would be able to have that. Jenny Lockyer - you're fired!”

But what they don't tell you is that the rooms are only 7ft long and 6ft 5in wide.”

“They may be big beds, but judging from the photo, the downside is the rooms are not big enough to accommodate the beds and so you will have sleep in the street.”

“The hotel looks great. I am looking forward to trying a big juicy steak there after work! Not sure about the Jazz though.”
