IAN Holloway thinks Bristol City are a great bet for promotion next season.

Blackpool's former Bristol Rovers boss saw City hold his side 1-1 at Bloomfield Road on Sunday as the Tangerines clinched a Championship play-off spot.

Holloway believes new City manager Steve Coppell, who will take charge of the Robins next week, is a "magnificent appointment".

City's travelling support sang a derogatory song about Holloway during the game, but the former Pirates chief chose to rise above the terrace abuse.

"I thought they looked a very good unit, a very good team and what a fantastic appointment," he said.

"I am a Bristolian and I cheered for them when they were in the play-off final (when City lost to Hull in 2008).

"People might not believe that with the stick they give me, but come on, move on, for Christ's sake.

"I'm not in charge of a s*** football team now, am I? My football team has probably achieved more than they have. Excuse my French, but I would like to move on in my life.

“So what is it with Holloway these days he gives nothing but praise for the red half.Does he want the City fans to start liking him or what. He was my hero when I was growing up but not no more.He doesnt seem to have anything nice to say about us anymore. Or is it just mind games.”
