Rising water temperatures recently forced owner Tim Small to shut Lechlade Specimen Trout Lake until the end of August.

Bushyleaze, however, remains open and is in top form.

Small said: "The size of fish being caught is bigger than normal since we have been stocking it with trout meant for Lechlade.

"There doesn't seem to be many damselflies around yet Damsel Nymphs are working well along with Buzzers, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, Sedges and Olives."

During the month of July 531 anglers caught 1634 trout. Mr Tummey, from Malvern, caught brown trout weighing 5-8-0 and 5-0-0 plus a 3-8-0 rainbow – all on a three fish ticket. The largest rainbow of the month weighed in at just over 9lb and was taken by Mr Norvia.

Every peg was taken for the Alcove AC's "Ken Davis Memorial Cup" match fished at the Fishponds Lido.

Paul Gowing lifted the silverware with a 17-10-0 of skimmers, bream and tench taken from an open waters swim at peg four with a groundbait feeder and caster.

Ian Sheppard beat Derrick Williams to second place by exactly 1lb.

Sheppard poled double maggot over chopped worm and groundbait at 10 metres off peg16 for 12-4-0, while Williams fished the same at 2 for 11-4-0.

Result, overall: 1, Paul Gowing 17-10-0, peg 4; 2, Ian Sheppard 12-4-0, peg 16; 3, Derrick Williams 11-4-0, peg 2.

Craig Edmunds poled pellet into the lakeside margins of Woodlands 11 and 58-8-0 of carp was enough to give him a comfortable victory in the Bristol PSV match fished at Trinity Waters, Bridgwater

Paul Elmes fished the same as the winner at peg nine for a similar 50-4-0, while third-placed Mark Britton poled the margins of 16 with maggot for 37-10-0.

Result, overall: 1, Craig Edmunds 58-8-0, peg 11; 2, Paul Elmes 50-4-0, peg 9; 3, Mark Britton 37-10-0, peg 16; 4, Mark Radford 32-7-0, peg 8; 5, Simon Belcham 31-8-0, peg 19; 6, Darren North 20-12-0, peg 4. Silverfish: 1, Simon Belcham 18-0-0, peg 19; 2, Mark Britton 6-12-0.
