Train journeys from London Paddington to the West face disruption because of engineering work between Chippenham and Bath Spa this weekend.

Tonight's 22.35 and 23.30 First Great Western services from Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads will be diverted between Swindon and Temple Meads and will not call at Chippenham or Bath Spa.

A replacement bus service will run for passengers to these stops and also Bristol Temple Meads.

Tomorrow, most trains between Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads / Weston-super-Mare / Plymouth will be diverted and not call at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham.

“Surely, if this is a BRISTOL site, that should read "trains to LONDON".”

“So that seems to suggest today's diverted trains will use the Badminton line between Swindon and Temple Meads whilst tomorrow those diverted will use the 'Berks and Hants' line via Westbury between Reading and Bathampton Junction.

Bristol is very lucky to have two alternative routes between it and the capital if Brunel's original GWR main line via Bath and Chippenham is out of action for some reason.”
