Mr Farr's campaign has already led to a review of bus fares by operator First, who have promised a wide-reaching consultation.
The company have put slow traffic speeds down as one of the causes for disproportionately high fares in Bristol.

“With regards some of the long bus routes, would it not be better if the buses stuck to the main roads rather than going all around the houses. A lot of the time buses take a long detour off the main roads to go round some residential areas only to rejoin the main road 100 yards further along after picking up zero passengers. I know this may mean some people having to walk a few mins to a bus stop but it may reduce journey times. Also cut down the number of bus stops on a stretch of road. On Broadwalk for example there are 3 stops (top, middle, bottom) when it only takes 5-10 mins to walk from one end to the other so no need for the middle stop.”

“One of the major reasons for slow traffic in Bristol is the Council's "traffic-calming" measures. If you slow down the cars, you slow down the buses. Obvious, you'd think but not, apparently, to the Council.”

“Some suggestions.
1. Reduce the long routes. They are a hangover from Avon days and make delays inevitable.
2. More flexible tickets. Why can't I buy a ticket from A to B, which just happens to mean changing buses.
3. More routes connecting the rings around Bristol- why do all buses go through the Centre?
4. Reduce the prices. I can take a return journey of 4 miles each way in rural Devon for £1.60. Half that distance in urban Bristol, £4. I'd be daft to take the bus when petrol and wear and tear to my car is less than £1, let alone when travelling with another person. My 11 year old child gets a 10% off the adult price of a First Day ticket. 10%! What happened to half fares?”

“Can you ask First why they charge 60p to reclaim lost property? Got a nasty shock when i went to pick my lost wallet up from the bus station. I was then charged 20 to go for a p!ss”
