Avon Youth League: Saltford Stars Under-12s completed two welcome victories over Almondsbury in a Division IV double-header.

Two first-half goals by Bryn Williams and an opportunist effort from Joe Fews sealed a 3-0 first-match win for Stars, while Shoaib Omar and Callum Docherty, who also crashed a shot against the crossbar, went close to adding to Saltford's tally.

Mark Gratton's staunch display at the back for Stars ensured a clean sheet in the face of some spirited Almondsbury attacking.

A goal in the opening minute put Saltford on their way to a 2-1 victory in game two, an excellent through ball from Chaz Hamblin setting Omar free to slot home.

Hamblin missed a penalty, shooting just wide, before Williams fastened on to a perfect through ball from Omar to make it 2-0.

Fews and Joshua Hyde both went close to extending Saltford's lead before Almonds pulled a goal back following some fine build-up play.

Bristol Rovers JSC turned up the heat in the battle to clinch the runners-up spot in Division I by winning 4-1 at Bitton.

Rovers dominated early on but Bitton took a surprise lead from their first attack with a shot which took a big deflection off a Rovers defender.

More Rovers pressure led to striker Robbie Clarke finishing off a superb move with a 20-yard strike for their equaliser before the goalscorer turned provider by first setting up Harry Wear to finish with a curling 18-yard strike, then crossing for Justin Wilkinson to fire an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net for their third goal.

A simple header from striker Liam from a corner completed a splendid win.

In the same division, Daniel Rugman netted six times as Avon Athletic A roared to an 8-1 win over bottom club Bradley Stoke United.

Rugman pounced from close range to open their account and Sergio Smith made it 2-0 before Bradley Stoke pulled one back.

Just when it looked as though Bradley Stoke might get back into the game, Rugman struck again following a good move to extend Avon's lead to 3-1 at half-time, before four more second-half strikes from Rugman, and a James Widdicks effort, ensured a comfortable win for the visitors.

AEK Boco eased any lingering relegation worries with a confident 3-0 win over fellow Division II strugglers Deerswood.

Harry Rawcliffe finished off a sweeping move to open the scoring. Luke Nash made it 2-0, pouncing on a rebound after Jesse Chapman had struck a post, and Jack Richardson completed the tally with a deserved third goal.

FDS Bristol kept the pressure on at the top of Division II with a 4-0 victory over St Nicholas A at Netham Park.

They led 1-0 at the break thanks to a neat finish from Josh Morgan-Williams and doubled their advantage early in the second period with an own goal following a corner.

Battling Saints always looked dangerous on the break but they were unable to find a way through the FDS backline and their man-of-the-match keeper Mo Bellarbi, who turned in a sparkling display.

FDS sealed victory with a double strike from Lewis Sutcliffe.

Bristol United B Under-12s battled hard but found themselves on the receiving end of a 6-5 defeat in a thrilling Division V encounter with Ingleside.

United were 3-1 down at half-time, Louis Hatton netting their only goal, before Matthew Braybrooke and Joseph Sterling both scored twice after the break to set up a tense finish.
