Peterborough's hot-shot attack has been League One's surprise package this season, but Yeovil Town defender Aaron Brown had an early insight into its potency.

While captaining Conference side Tamworth, Brown found himself marking Craig Mackail-Smith (20 goals this term), Aaron McLean (14) and George Boyd (nine) during their respective spells at Dagenham and Redbridge, Grays and Stevenage.

Today Brown will renew acquaintances with the Posh triumvirate when the Glovers travel to London Road.

"I have played against them a few times in my old days at Tamworth," said the Birmingham-born centre half.

"I know them well and you could tell then that they were going to come through.

"Back then they were some of the best players in the league at the time and they all got moves which they deserved.

"Peterborough are very good going forward and everyone joins in and they can score from a few different positions."

But Brown has played his part in three successive clean sheets for the Glovers and isn't affected by Yeovil's 1-0 defeat at home to Peterborough earlier in the season because he didn't play.

"Hopefully the defence is something to build on," he said.

"We have had three clean sheets and won them so I think we will go there positive looking for a good result.

"We have just got to keep doing what we have been doing and work hard."

Yeovil are without suspended stand-in skipper Terrell Forbes today so club captain Terry Skiverton is in line to play.

What the Glovers will lose by being without the pacy Forbes they will gain from having Skiverton's aerial power.

"Me and Skivo can be a threat," said 6ft 5ins tall Brown. "We work on the set pieces in training. I will try to get a few more goals. I used to score a few so I will try to get back into it."

Such has been the form of Brown and Forbes that goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar has had to make few saves in the last three outings.

"He has been there when we have needed him," said Brown. "It is the sign of a good goalkeeper. When we have needed him he has been there to count on, which is great for us as a back five."

In total, Brown has made 14 appearances for Yeovil since the start of the season, but is still only on week-to-week terms.

It is hard to know what more he could have done to earn a full-time contract from the club's board of directors.

"They haven't spoken to me at all so I am in the dark with everyone else really," said Brown, whose agent is actively trying to broker a deal.

"It can be frustrating but I have just got to keep doing what I am doing and keep playing well and hopefully someone will acknowledge it."

Brown has settled quickly into life at Huish Park but no one can blame him for wanting some long-term security.

"I am happy here," he said. "It is a good set of lads and Tommo (assistant manager Steve Thompson) and the gaffer (Russell Slade) are good.

"I have been here since the start of the season and I am enjoying it."

Brown will enjoy life even more if a fourth straight win today is rewarded with the contract he deserves. But he won't be holding his breath.
