Brown grabs a hat-trick of tries as Clevedon overcome Avonmouth
CLEVEDON Under-16s wing Tom Brown scored a superb hat-trick of tries as he helped his side to a 26-14 victory over Avonmouth in their opening game of the season.
Avonmouth took an early lead, but the Seasiders came roaring back to claim the spoils. Dan Jones scored Clevedon's other try, while Kieran Hill landed three conversions.
Cleve Under-16s had a 55-10 victory over Hornets.
The home side's willingness to attack from all areas paid dividends with Jaid Wiltshire and Jack Cainey bagging two tries apiece, while Tom Cox, Ross Jones, Jack Jeffries and Kieran Webb also crossed the whitewash for the Mangotsfield-based side. Matty Atkins booted five conversions.

Despite a gallant rearguard effort, Keynsham Under-16s bowed out of this season's Bristol Junior Combination Cup at the first hurdle after a 32-0 defeat against Chew Valley.
Clifton Under-17s' credentials were given a thorough examination by a pumped-up Thornbury Broncos at Rockhampton Road.
The Henbury-based side relied on their ability to score tries to see them home with prop Montell Kelly, lock Archie Moorecroft, centres Nick Postlewaite and Will Slatton and flanker Paddy Slatten crossing for tries in a 25-24 win.
Hornets Under-17s continued their two-year unbeaten run after recording a 36-19 opening-day victory at Thornbury.
The Hutton More side were home and hosed at the break, with tries, two of which were converted, from Adam Francis, Charlie Carter and Connor Littlewood, and a Craig Nicholls drop goal, giving them a 22-0 interval lead.
The Broncos responded with a Ryan Kent try, converted by Jack Fare. But Hornets pulled clear when Littlewood crossed for his second, and Alex Colborne's try sealed the win – both converted by Francis. Thornbury had the final say when Fare converted Davey Crowley's try.
Frampton Cotterell Under-14s suffered their first reverse of the season, going down 38-7 to a strong Nailsea & Backwell outfit.
The visitors competed well in the early stages, but the home side wore them down with their much bigger pack. Dan Harris scored a try for Frampton, while Lewis Chadwick slotted a conversion.
Frampton Cotterell's Under-13s, had a 24-14 triumph over Chepstow.
No 8 Jed Ferris was inspirational in his star player display. Liam Cross and Matt Isles were among the try scorers for Frampton.
Sean Johnstone starred in Aretians Under-13s' 52-22 win at Chepstow. Aretians tries came courtesy of Ollie Owen (3), Jake Murphy (2), Jack Wills, Joe Davies and Max Goodman.
Olly Hill scored his side's only try during Old Bristolians Under-13s' 55-7 defeat at Wells. Joe Osborne added a conversion
