Broken ankles for man in Bristol stream leap
A man broke both his ankles and heels after jumping over a stream in Bristol in the middle of the night.
The 20-year-old had managed to clear the stream in Tower Road North, Warmley, but landed awkwardly on concrete and was unable to get up a 10ft incline.
Paramedics from Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) were called to the scene just after 1am today.
Avon Fire and Rescue crews also helped rescue the man, using an extending ladder to reach him so he could be treated.
He was put on a boarded stretcher as he was also complaining of spinal pain, before being lifted out and taken to Frenchay Hospital.
GWAS incident support officer, Dean Mahoney, said: "Our crews and our colleagues from the fire service worked really well together in what was a tricky situation.
"As well as the patient being hard to reach, it was dark and cold for him and our staff."

The guy who jumped the stream probably only got a bruised Big Toe, so please don't JUMP (sic) to conclusions about whehter he was a little tipsy or not . . :D . . :D . . :D . . :D”
