Broad Plain Boy's Club will host the ABA Senior Novice Championships on Sunday (2pm).

A strong London division will travel to the Riverside Centre in Easton to take on their Western Counties counterparts at the quarter-final stages.

Bristol boast three boxers at the event with Dwaine Winters and Jim Hale, both fly-weights, coming from the Empire club and Greg Welling fighting out of the Broad Plain camp.

The 21-year-old Welling, a cruiser-weight, will be roared on by local support as he attempts to notch up his 17th victory in his 20th contest.

"We are expecting a fantastic afternoon of boxing with some great match-ups", said organiser, Dennis Stinchcombe.

"Some of the best amateur boxing talent will be here at Broad Plain on Sunday and we are expecting fireworks throughout the 19-bout contest."

Tickets are available on the day and are £10 for adults and £5 for Under-16s and OAPs.
