The Lions' first match at sea level is also the venue for the first Test.Formerly called Kings Park, the ABSA stadium was first built in 1891 beforebeing renovated in 1990. It is used by The Sharks in Super 14.
NEWLANDS

The Lions played at Newlands for the first time when they made their inauguraltour of South Africa in 1891. The ground also hosted the opening match of the1995 World Cup when the Springboks beat Australia.
NELSON MANDELA BAY STADIUM

Completed in time for the Lions tour, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is stateof the art multipurpose ground. It will also host seven matches in the footballWorld Cup and was built especially for the tournament.

Rugby has been played at the site since 1906 with construction beginning on thestadium itself in 1923. Several upgrades later, it has been in its existingstate since 1984.
