Youngsters at Bristol schools are being encouraged to get involved in a dodgeball event to get active while raising money for a heart charity.

The British Heart Foundation has launched Ultimate Dodgeball as part of its Food4Thought campaign.

They are calling on 138 schools in Bristol to get involved in the challenge.

Ultimate Dodgeball is open to active seven- to 16-year-olds.

All schools that register will receive a free organiser's kit containing resources worth £30, including balls, a guide, teacher's manual, posters and sponsorship forms.

They also get to keep 20 per cent of the money raised, to spend how they choose.

Lucy Saunders, fundraising volunteer manager for the British Heart Foundation, said: "Physical activity is something that all children should embrace and enjoy. It is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

"Ultimate Dodgeball is a great way of making exercise fun and accessible for children at school – all ages and abilities can play – whilst raising vital funds for the nation's heart charity and the school."
