Bristol woman's art show - drawings of cups of tea
For the last two years, one Bristol woman has drawn every single cup of tea she has had.
Now 28-year-old Lucy Ward's work – nearly 3,000 separate drawings – is to be put on display for the public.
Lucy, an artist who works at St Werburghs Scrapstore, started drawing her drinks for a project at art school, but began in earnest in October 2007.
A selection of her drawings will form an exhibition titled Every Cup of Tea I Ever Had at St Werburghs Community Centre in Horley Road, as part of the St Werburghs Arts Trail on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27, from 11am-5pm.
Lucy, who lives in St Werburghs with her boyfriend, said: "It started out as a project; I was interested in people's habits and patterns of behaviour. But then I found that I quite liked doing it.
"It's turned into a bit of a diary for me; each drawing is different, sometimes I draw other things that are near the cup of tea at the time, or make notes about what I am thinking or who I am with."
Some of the drawings, which are all timed and dated, include books, crumpets, teacakes and teapots.
She said: "It depends how much time I have as to how much I draw, but I really have drawn every cup of tea I have had for the last two years.
"It's approaching the second anniversary and I'm thinking about stopping, but actually I quite enjoy doing it.
"It's mostly just a bit of fun; I'm not trying to get any kind of message across.
"I keep all the drawings in shoe boxes in my room and add to them each day."

“Mike from Henbury, you obviously have not read the article as otherwise you would know she has a job. Learn to read! Perhaps, Mike, you are the unemployable one.”

“I like the style of them, looks pretty snazzy. At least she's creating something rather than being a bozo on the 'world wide web'.”

“Never mind drawing 'em, Love, go and fetch me one. Two sugars. And don't forget the Garibaldis, or Pink Wafers if you can get hold of 'em.”
