Bristol waste bin proposals are rubbish
I am writing with regard to the downsizing of waste bins in Bristol. (Post, September 9. What next?
In five years, maybe carrier-bag-size bins etc, and collected once a month. What does Gary Hopkins suggest we do with the present black bins?
Might I suggest the Lib council spend a little less time and money on waste and spend more time and maintenance money on the awful condition of our roads and pavements.
For the council to praise our city as clean and beautiful leads me back to my first comment – rubbish.
Malcolm Leslie, Ashton.
Obviously a family of five need more provisions, therefore produce more waste. Perhaps Mr Hopkins would be better talking to the supermarkets with regard to reducing the packaging of our groceries rather than penalise sensible people who recycle as much as possible.
What I find very strange is that we are told that this is necessary due to EU rules, however, on a recent family holiday to Spain we had daily refuse collections and all waste was disposed of together. Are we, the rate payers of Bristol doing the council's job by disposing of our own waste?
Mr Neil Richardson, Whitchurch.
