Bristol & West AC's Under-15 boys' squad of Zac Tobias, Kieran Young and Luke Jacobs produced a sparkling performance to win silver medals at the National Young Athletes' Road Relays.

It was a momentous success in many ways. First, on the opening stage, Tobias had to avoid a big pile up soon after the start that left him towards the rear of the field. But he didn't panic and finished strongly in sixth, six seconds behind the leaders.

Young was next, and being promoted to the first-team for the first time might have been nerve-wracking enough, but his recent training has been hampered by a broken arm and the cast was only removed two days earlier.

But that didn't slow him, with Young slicing almost a minute from his previous best time over the course, before handing over to Jacobs in third.

The youngster, who only recently joined from Clevedon AC, showed superb pace, judgement and character to lift the club into second with the fourth fastest time overall.

The other top 10 finish came from Bristol's Under-17 women's squad of Billi Williams, Annabel Gummow and Naomi Speake, who finished fifth with Gummow claiming the individual honour of posting the fastest time, two seconds clear of her rival Emelia Gorecka.

In the same race, the Westbury Harriers' trio of Floren Scrafton, Zoe Barber and Emily Fitzhugh finished 11th.
