A Banksy-style stencilled tribute to Michael Jackson has appeared in St Paul's near the start of the M32.

The black-and-white stencil shows the singer from his days with the Jackson Five, sporting a large afro and holding a microphone.

The design bears the hallmarks of the elusive graffiti artist, who uses stencils for his street art in order to reduce the amount of time he needs to spend outside.

The new work will be of interest to the thousands of people who have already visited Bristol to see Banksy vs Bristol Museum, a free exhibition which runs until August 31.

A spokesperson for Banksy was unable to confirm whether the stencil was a new piece of work, saying that he never confirms nor denies such appearances.

“Banksy is not the only graffiti stencil artist in Bristol! C'mon anyone could have made this stencil there are hundreds even thousands of graffiti artists out there, millions!

Banksy's name is now more popular then his art work! it's sad but true; this article suggesting the MJ stencil is by Banksy is evidence enough and there are still more suggestions as to why, with the media having the main influence to BANKSY's possible Demise, on a social level. Banksy's financial status is rocketing through the roof from the help of the media!

Fix your self up Banksy and come back to the roots where you first started, you are losing some of the die hard fans that have loved your work from the beginning. Graffiti has never been about the money but about the soul.. Go have the experience of living the life in the rich and famous world of artists because you deserve to do so, you have earned it!!

But i believe if you should choose to continue the current path you are on Banksy as in having art gallery exhibitions you should reveal your real name to the world or go back to the roots where you started and remain as an anonymous graffiti artist named BANKSY. Do what ever you feel comfortable with... ignore me for all i care, it's not my life to say what you can and can't do...

From first glance i truly thought that this Michael Jackson stencil was not by Banksy but by an emerging street artist, and assuming it's by Banksy because he is famous is just crazy. The MJ stencil is rockin, one of the best i have seen and the white fading spray technique is fantastic!
    R.I.P Michael Jackson”

“Noticed there was another stencil at the end of the M32 on the black boarding round the Cabot carpark, just on the left. But this morning, saw that it's been painted over.

    Banksy, you da man!! ;-)”

“"Rob, I'm not the homophobic bigot, can't you remember what I told you ?"

The fact that you keep denying it, yet the evidence is in black and white tells me all I need to know, Corky.”

“It's almost like the BEP are under threat that they'll become a once-a-week publication if they can't fill their daily pages. Good schoolchildren, a stencil, a pub has a new landlord...whatever next?

Still it helps the lunchtime pass, reading these comments. God only knows what we'd do though if they stopped posting stores about Banksy or cyclists. ;-)”

“The Graffiti we see in ourcity improves it beyond any reasonable doubt.

Discovering new bits of graffiti around the city is like finding hidden treasure. If it wasn't for the popularity of Banksy, the Evening Post wouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon and reported this story of an MJ stencil spray...

If Banksy sprayed the side of your house, complainer-T, it'd be like someone handing you 10 grand, how would you like that?”

"It's ok to be gay" - embrace it!

How many time do you need reminding, you plank?”

“"Living in a city is depressing enough without it being a completely concrete jungle. Quite frankly all those opposed to Graffiti are mizers, desperate to knock on something that somebody else has done. Bristol is a cultural and vibrant place, and has been for a lot longer than most of you naysayers have lived. So if you don't like it, go live somewhere else".

Likewise Dan, if you find living in a city "depressing".”

“Hello T, If it was artwork and not tagging like the "norm" I see everywhere around the city centre (Hooray, he can spell his name), then I'd love it. Thanks. I of course don't own my own home and don't really think it would be my responsiblity to remove it if it happened, but if I did... I would enjoy it.”
