A traffic warden was racially abused as he gave a car a parking ticket in Bristol.

Police yesterday appealed for witnesses to the incident, which involved the driver of a silver Chrysler jeep, to come forward.

It happened in Laburnam Road, Hanham.

Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman Catherine Foster said: "When the parking attendant refused to destroy the ticket, the man shouted racial abuse at him."

Witnesses to the incident, which happened on June 20 at about 1pm, should call Staple Hill police on 0845 456 7000.

“Traffic wardens are the heros of our streets. If it wasn't for them we'd have absolute chaos out there with dangerous and illegal parking.”

“No one likes a traffic warden putting tickets on your car...but thats no excuse for racism.
Well lets just get them to say sorry and thats it ay? It works if you're an MP.”
