These Bristol thugs have been banned from areas they have

been terrorising for years.

Ben Perks, Mark Morris and James Phillips have been ordered

to stay out of the centre of Southmead and stay away from each

other under Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (Asbos) given to them

after a police and council action.

Another yob, Truman Ward, has been banned from a large area

of Henbury.

But because two of the four live in Southmead they have not

been banned from the whole estate, as the two-year Asbo cannot

ban them from living in their own homes.

Police say banning them from their homes would be against

their human rights - but residents say the human rights of

their victims should come first.

Perks, 22, of Braemar Avenue, Filton; Morris, 22, of

Ringwood Crescent, Southmead; Phillips, 17, of Keswick Walk,

Southmead; and Ward, 19, of Dovercourt Road, Lockleaze, all

have previous criminal convictions.

Perks is the most notorious. He was jailed for 14 months in

February for affray and criminal damage, but released early

last month. He also has previous convictions for violence.

Police say all of them have made many residents' lives a

misery with their nuisance behaviour, threats of violence,

intimidation and vehicle crime.

In the past six months, police have been called to deal with

some or all members of the gang at least once a week.

Sergeant Chris Regan, of Southmead police station, said:

"The people of Southmead have had enough.

"This group have subjected residents to nuisance and

criminal behaviour, disrupting their lives - the roles are now

reversed.

"If anyone sees them in the area they are banned from, or

sees them together, then they should contact the police

immediately."

They were made subject of the Asbos after being convicted of

public order offences at North Avon magistrates' court.

If they breach the order by straying into the areas of

Southmead they are banned from, or meet up with each other,

then that is a criminal offence and could lead to five years in

prison.

Residents in Braemar Avenue, where Perks lives, told the

Evening Post he had been causing trouble for years.

A Southmead resident said: "You often see them all hanging

around causing trouble. I'm glad the police have finally done

something."

Anyone who witnesses these four breaching their Asbos should

call police on 0845 456 7000 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800

555111.
