Youngsters at the Bristol Foyer have completed a project to help them think about dealing with violence and threatening situations.

'StreetLife' aimed to increase self awareness and knowledge by using music, lyrics and graffiti workshops as an engaging and creative way to help young people learn the appropriate reactions to threatening situations.

Discussion groups with Community Resolve and self defence sessions demonstrated that knives were not the answer. The Bristol Foyer is a Knightstone Housing Association scheme on Victoria Street which offers young people support.

Manager Lois Temel said: "Young people who find themselves in conflict or threatening situations often don't know how to react. This project has offered the young people involved the chance to learn some skills and strategies which will help them to stay safe.

"We are very grateful to Bristol Young Professionals and Quartet for providing the funding to make this project possible."
