A Bristol five-a-side football team became the envy of any fan when they won a cup at Wembley.

But the team have reason to thank lady luck, as they were picked from 1,700 teams knocked out of the FA Umbro Fives tournament to get another shot.

No Pace United, seven former pupils of St Bede's Catholic College in Lawrence Weston, lifted the FA Umbro Fives Lucky Eight title.

The five-a-side team saw off seven rivals from across the country and finished by beating a team from Darlington 2-0.

The players, all 21-year-old Rovers fans who live in Henbury, Winterbourne, Filton and Horfield, got free kit and enjoyed a tour of the stadium.

The team has played every week for three years in the Filton Goals Football five-a-side league.

"It was one of the best days of my life – I couldn't believe we won the final," said team captain, Lorenzo Geatani, who works in a betting shop.

"After going out in the local heats we thought we would never get the chance to play at Wembley.

"We've have had an amazing experience and to seal victory in the final has capped a truly memorable day.

"It's every kid's dream to lift a trophy at Wembley and I have just done it in front of my friends and family.

"I can't wait until next year's tournament begins so we can try and do it again."

The team won through the Bristol heats in the spring but went out in the regional heats in the summer. Both heats were played at Goals Football in Filton.
