Bristol talent comes under spotlight
Singers and musicians were put under the spotlight in Bristol at an audition for a national talent competition.
Open Mic UK 2009 features a series of rounds at venues throughout the country, with St George's in Bristol hosting performers who hoped to attract the judges' attention.

There were three categories for under-18s, those aged between 18 and 25 and anyone over 25.
Kevin Swales, 52, of Overndale Road, Downend, was one of those who qualified for the next phase of the contest – a regional final to be held at St George's in front of an audience at the end of October.
His a cappella version of Summertime was voted among the best by the judging panel, who were also looking for stage presence, star quality and individuality as well as pure talent.
Mr Swales, who is a qualified accountant, said: "My parents used to have a pub in Pembrokeshire so I sang there and in hotels. But I hadn't done any competitions for some years because I was working overseas. But it would have been a shame to put my hobby on hold so I started again."
Winners of all the regional rounds will go on to the national final in Portsmouth in November.
The eventual winner will have the chance to record an album in professional studios, and release a single. They could even tour the UK and meet industry executives and record label agents.
