Bristol students get hands-on experience of the building trade

Building students from the University of West England donned hard hats for a visit to the new Charlton Hayes housing development in Filton.

Barratt Homes played host to the year one undergraduates, who are studying building surveying, for a hands-on demonstration of construction at the development.

“Getting a real insight into the methods used to create a development like Charlton Hayes has been invaluable to the students on this course,” said David Evans, senior building surveying lecturer at UWE.

“This is a fantastic chance for us to form an important community partnership with Barratt – helping to bring through the next generation of specialists in this field."
