Bristol students get a feel for Indian festival Holi
Students at Bristol Metropolitan Academy took part in a range of activities to mark Holi, the spring festival of colour celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and others.
Twenty-four students from Years 7-10 cooked onion bhajis and pakoras, which were sold at stalls to the accompaniment of a dhol drummer playing along to Bhangra music.

Other students took part in Bollywood dance workshops, which culminated in shows later in the afternoon, at which the history and background to the Holi celebrations was explained.
During lunch there were Bollywood discos with colourful confetti.
Ravinder Saluja, a maths and information technology teacher who organised the event, said: "As a specialist languages academy it is important for us to celebrate and expose our students to different cultures from around the world."
