Bristol streets are set to host parties
BRISTOL seems to be the street party capital of the country with 11 events taking place this weekend.
Streets in Easton, Golden Hill, Hillfields, St Andrews, St Jude's, Bishopston and St Werburgh's are all holding parties on Saturday or Sunday.
Bristolians never need an excuse for a party and this summer more than 100 have either been held or are being planned.
A national group called Streets Alive has been promoting street parties across the country for the past few years.
Spokesman Chris Gittins said: "Residents get to meet their neighbours of all backgrounds and ages, often for the first time, without traffic for a day.
"Kids get to play in the street for a change and street parties are a really powerful way of building a sense of community."
