Bristol snapper's photo picked for charity
A Whitchurch grandfather has had one of his photographs selected to appear in a calendar being produced to help raise money for charity.
Tony Bodman won a competition at Whitehall Garden Centre in Whitchurch, which called for experienced and novice photographers to submit pictures of gardens, flora or fauna to feature in a 2010 calendar in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Dorothy House Hospice Care.
Mr Bodman, 64, who is a merchandising events co-ordinator at Somerfield head office in Whitchurch, said: "It was great to find out that my photograph was one of the 12 selected from some wonderful entries. I am looking forward to seeing the calendar and hope that it raises a good amount of money for these worthy causes.
"My photograph, which will be used for April in the calendar, was of cherry blossom in our garden. The tree was a present from my sons, who bought it from Whitehall Garden Centre some years ago."
Wiltshire Air Ambulance is entirely dependent on public support and needs to raise more than £500,000 a year in order to keep its helicopter running.
Dorothy House Hospice Care in Bradford-on-Avon cares for people with life-threatening illnesses and looks after around 800 patients and their families every day.
David Manning, manager of Whitehall Garden Centre, said: "We would like to congratulate Tony and our other winners, each of whom received a £30 Whitehall Garden Centre voucher."
The charity calendar will be available from the garden centre in Norton Lane from September.
