Bristol singer in UK Idol 2008 final
Bristol singer Angie McQuillin has made it through to the last 18 of a talent competition which 10,000 people entered.
Angie, 28, from Eastville, has won through to the UK final of Idol 2008 on Saturday, November 29, when she could win a £25,000 recording contract.

The judges turned down 20 musicians to sing in the National Grand Final at Portsmouth Guildhall.
"I'm now in the final 18 out of 10,000 so even if I don't win I'll be well happy to have got through to such a minority," said Angie.
"I'm really buzzing about it and have been practising at every chance I get and have been asking everybody what I should wear.
"Although I think I overdid it a little this weekend, which is why my voice is now a little hoarse."
At the regional finals Angie sang What's Up by 4 Non Blondes and said female rock stars like Alanis Morissette and Pink were her greatest influences.
"I've been singing for as long as I can remember. I started playing the guitar when I was four-years-old," she said.
"I used to sing around pubs and clubs from when I was about 16 and at university. In Bristol I've mainly sung at private functions like weddings."
But she was coy about achieving her aim for stardom.
"Because there are so few of us left out of thousands, I expect everyone to be really, really good. I don't want to think about the competition too much."
A celebrity panel will judge the Bristol singer and her fellow UK Idol 2008 finalists, including former Another Level singer Dane Bowers, Artful Dodger co-founder Mark Hill, Eurovision winner and TV presenter Cheryl Baker and former Steps singer Lee Latchford-Evans.

“Its about time the UK had a real answer to Alanis Morissette and Pink.
My goodness people still use myspace?”

“Good luck in the next stage of the competition Angie. On the face of it you seem to have much more talent than some recent 'musicians' who have featured on here, as you are able to play a guitar as well as sing . . . . . . One thing strikes me as odd though. Neither 'google', Myspace or Facebook come up with any answers when I do a search for "Angie McQuillin", which I would have thought as a well known musician you would come up well in a search . . . . . The only thing I could think of is that the BEP have spelt your name incorrectly . . . as if they would ;-)”
