Hundreds of Henbury and Brentry residents gathered in Crow Lane last night to celebrate a white Christmas.

The road was transformed into a winter wonderland with a snow machine, and Santa arrived to give out 200 presents to local children with the help of his elves.

Blaise and Henbury Court Primary School choirs sang together and the Henbury School band played carols for all to sing. Plenty of mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine was available for people to enjoy.

The annual Christmas Crackers event was organised by local residents with the Safer Bristol partnership.

Cheryl Coles, 46, safety officer with the partnership and event co-ordinator, said: "This is our fourth year and it's been the biggest community turn out we've ever had. The people here are keen to show that Henbury is more than the negative stuff that has been happening recently."

“That evening was great. If you didn't go then you missed out on seeing primary school's sing and Henbury school playing their Instruments.
Santa clause went along too for all the younger children and it turned out to be a great time. If you are free next year and have some hours and minutes to spare pop down to crow lane. and if the band and all Young school children are there you would be welcome to listen and join in the singing of the carols.”
