A sex attacker in Bristol has struck again - for the fifth time.

Police have confirmed that a sexual assault in Cotham last night is being linked to a series of assaults in the Clifton area in recent weeks.

Four women are reported to have been attacked.

Avon and Somerset police said those attacks happened in the Whiteladies Road and Alma Road area.

Police said the attacks happened during the evening and early hours of the morning.

In each case lone women have been approached by an unknown man who has then indecently assaulted them.

At a police press conference held in Cotham today, near the scene of the latest attack, detectives urged women to be vigilent.

Supt Ian Wylie said that there will be an increase in police patrols in the area.

Anyone with any information about the assaults can contact detectives on 0117 945 5562 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

    “Hi,

I'm pretty shocked by the lack of media coverage this has received. (This is Bristol excepting of course). I first found out about the attacks from my mate who lives in Taunton and thought it'd be a good idea to warn me. Totally agree with the people on this forum - it's not always practical to get taxies - particularly not at 6pm in the evening. Very worried about my friend saying there's apparently been an attack now at 7pm - is this just a rumour?? Again no media coverage.. so how about some practical advice? Don't wear iPods when walking down dark streets alone, be aware of who's around you, carry a personal alarm, look confident and purposeful, make sure people know where you are, be extra vigilant when walking past allyways, parks, car parks etc. Finally, there's apparently an emergency text number for people who can't call 999 - it's 80999. worth keeping hold of in case you're ever in that kind of situation - god forbid. So why aren't we getting practical advice like this from any official sources??

Sorry for rambling - hope this is of interest.”

“The article on the BBC website is much better worded by the use of the word "other" between "Four women ....."”

“It makes me sick that women can't just go about their normal everyday lives without perverts preying on them. A man attempted to assault me on the bus to work 3 weeks ago, and that was in broad daylight at 9 in the morning! My heart goes out to those women who have fallen victim to this sicko, I hope the police catch who's responsible for this.”

“GingerRog, you have misread what I said. I know that the police have no say in how long someone stays in prison, I didn't say that they did.”
