Detectives in Bristol are reassuring Clifton residents after a series of reported attacks around the area in the last month.

During the last five weeks, four indecent assaults have been reported occurring in the Whiteladies Road and Alma Road areas of Clifton during the evening and early hours of the morning.

In each case lone females have been approached by an unknown man who has then indecently assaulted them.

Police have already stepped up patrols in the area and carried out a number of enquiries into the incidents, but are keen to reassure residents living around Clifton Down and speak to any witnesses.

Detective Inspector Ed Heath said: "I appreciate incidents like this are worrying to local people, but I would reassure them that these incidents are being investigated and we are doing everything possible to find the offender involved.

We would appeal to anyone who may have any information or have witnessed such offences to come forward. Some women may also have experienced similar assaults but not reported them and so we are also keen to speak with them.".

"None of the victims have suffered serious physical injury, but we are concerned and have increased patrols around the area." We would advise women to be aware of their surroundings at night and where possible walk in well lit areas or with friends.

During one of the incidents, a member of the public came to the aid of the victim.

The offender in each case has been a white male, aged in his 20s, 5ft 10ins tall and wearing dark clothing.
