Bristol school marks Roald Dahl's birthday in style
Pupils from Red Maids' Junior School celebrated Roald Dahl's birthday in a style that would have made the author proud.
The girls took part in activities such as "Throw the Thripp" – a re-enactment of Matilda where Miss Trunchbull whirls Amanda Thripp round by her pigtails before flinging her across the playground.
School spokeswoman Alison Foster said: "No Red Maids were harmed during this event!"
Other activities included Mr Twit's beard-making workshop, involving suitably revolting pieces of food, Mrs Twit's eyeball cake making and "Giant Peach" smoothie recipes.
Some girls designed new sweets for Wonka's Chocolate Factory, coming up with such ideas as Lusholicious Toothbrushes and multi-flavour pens that you can suck in class without your teacher suspecting a thing.
