Bristol's Watershed wins social enterprise award
Bristol's Watershed has become the first arts organisation in the South West to be awarded the new Social Enterprise Mark, a label which guarantees that a product or service is creating a social or environmental benefit.
Watershed, on Bordeaux Quay, delivers a diverse programme of films, events, festivals, artist commissions and conferences.
Dick Penny, Watershed's managing director, said: "Being the first arts organisation to receive the mark is a real badge of honour.
"We take our social responsibilities seriously and we have always been a catalyst for the ongoing redevelopment of Bristol's Harbourside.
"Watershed is a creative and social hub for everyone and it's wonderful to be recognised for our innovative work by being awarded the mark."
Kevin Brennan, Minister for the Third Sector, presented the Social Enterprise Mark to Watershed
He said: "Watershed Media Centre is an inspiring place and a great example of the innovation typical of the social enterprise sector.
"I am delighted to present them with the Social Enterprise Mark. Not enough people know about the great work of social enterprises and that is why the Government is supporting the sector to market itself more successfully to consumers and investors."
