Bristol's Aardman nominated for another Oscar
Bristol-based animators Aardman are in the running for another Oscar for the film The Pirates.
Nominations for this year's Academy Awards have been announced this afternoon with the Gas Ferry Road-based firm named in the category for best animated feature film.
The Pirates, directed by Aardman co-founder Peter Lord features Hugh Grant as the voice of Pirate Captain.It tells the story of the character's adventures with his crew as he attempts to win the title of Pirate of the Year.
The film, which had a special premiere in Bristol for Aardman staff and supporters of charity The Grand Appeal, is up against Brave, Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, ParaNorman and Wreck-It Ralph.

In December The Pirates received five nominations in the annual Annie Awards, which recognise the best in the field of animation.
In a Tweet about the nomination Mr Lord said: "Yaaaaaaay. Nominated for Oscars."
