Bristol residents say view blocked by trees
Residents in a Bristol street are fed up because their spectacular views of the city have been blotted out by overgrown trees and shrubs.
They live in Malvern Road, St George, where their back gardens used to look out across the River Avon. They are now launching a petition to get the city council to take action.
Resident Brian Stacey, 71, a former builder, said: "We moved here more than 20 years ago because of the stunning views. We used to be able to sit out in our back gardens and watch the boats go up and down the river. But we can't see anything anymore; it's terrible."
Neighbour Michael Dowling, 70, a retired insurance agent, said: "We're only asking for it to be thinned out so we've got a view; we're not saying they should chop down trees."
This comes after an elderly couple in Stockwood were highlighted in the Evening Post because their panoramic views of Bristol had been blocked out by trees and shrubs.
A council spokesman said: "We take all complaints seriously and will be sending one of our officials out to the site this week to assess the overgrown area."

“My views of trees and shrubs have been blocked by the city and I can't see the river for all overgrown flats, please can the council fix this.”

“Been there for 20 years and not lifted a finger, surely you cant expect the Council to do everything for you?”
