Pupils at Four Acres Primary in Withywood look set to go down a storm with their first Shakespearean production.

About 40 children aged seven to 11 are taking part in the school's version of The Tempest.

The show, which is in contemporary English, includes Miranda and Ferdinand singing a Barry White-style love song complete with glitter ball and Supremes backing singers.

Another highlight is hula girls on Prospero's magical island singing a song with Ariel.

Teacher Caroline Feltham said: "It's a spectacular show with some great songs. It's a brilliant way to introduce children to a great Shakespearean tale full of treachery, revenge, magic and love."

The production is being staged on July 15 and 16 for parents and friends. Some of the children are also learning more about the play in their literacy lessons this week.
