A north Bristol primary school has released its own glossy magazine to showcase its wide range of activities and services.

Lockleaze Primary School and Early Years Centre has launched Shine magazine featuring expert tips on health and parenting, community news and entertainment.

The launch issue features an interview with UK soul star and new dad Lemar and mums also contribute by trying out new book releases with their children.

Richard Reddrop, head of community services, said: "We really wanted to produce a high quality magazine that would inform as well as interest anyone within the Lockleaze community. I am really happy with the end result ."

Shine, an A5 glossy, was commissioned by Lockleaze Primary School head teacher, Gareth Simons, who said: "I hope that Shine will give a good insight into the kind of services and events provided by Lockleaze Primary School and Early Years Centre."

Patricia Nicholls, 36, of Rodbourne Road, Manor Farm, contributed a book review for the magazine. She and her sons Liam, three and Rhys, one, shared a puppet book called Where is Mama Bear?

"It is a good way to find out what is going on," she said.
