Enough with the strikes. Honestly, I appreciate the Royal Mail work hard, etc, etc, but the fact is people don't use the Royal Mail as much because it's unreliable. The majority of people will use couriers if it's anything important.

Rachel, Bristol

I'm a postie and am sick to the teeth of how myself and my colleagues are treated. Without a strike we are doomed, the company will be privatised and go the way of the railways and we will all be robots.

Vince, Cambs

More important than wealth is health and happiness. If these posties aren't happy in their jobs, look for another one. Oh, I forgot, there aren't many jobs about at the moment, are there?

Nigel, Downend

“I must dispute the statement that the Royal Mail are unreliable.
I send up to 100 items by first class post every week, mostly jiffy bagged items which are wrapped securely, labels clearly printed and attached with postcodes etc.
As for striking then I believe they should do so or a few years down the line postal services will totally deteriorate when it is put out to private tender and we will all suffer as we have with every other industry privatised in the past 20 years.
I have used the Royal Mail for this purpose for the past six years and in all that time I have only had one item go astray and have never had a complaint about a late arrival.
On the opposite side of the coin I also recieve a lot of mail and the late arrivals are always those poorly wrapped, obscure hadwritten addresses and the lack of a full or partial postcode.
You can't blame the post office if the customers don't play their small part”

“Above all we have to respect the authority of a trades union and the right to take industrial action, regardless of what we personally think about the dispute.

Without this we risk unscrupulous employers riding roughshod over workers and exploiting them for their own financial gain. It would be a return to Victorian times with workers livlihoods and lives put at risk.”
