Residents of Barton Hill and the Dings are holding two parties to celebrate the end of a £50 million project to improve the area.

In 2000, the Government launched the New Deal for Communities programme, a 10-year project to regenerate Barton Hill, the Dings, parts of Redfield and Lawrence Hill.

The money has been spent on a huge range of initiatives, from the arts and community development to crime, housing and education projects. Now Community at Heart, the resident-led organisation set up to oversee the regeneration programme, is bringing people together to show what has been achieved.

There are two parties, today and on August 22, to celebrate the work.

Today's party is in the Dings Park, off Oxford Street in St Philips, between noon and 6pm, while next week's will take place at Urban Park in Barton Hill. There will be music, stalls, games, food, complementary therapies and speeches, and the celebrations are open to everyone who has taken part in and benefited from the work.
