The fruits of newlywed Bristol couple Louise Tricklebank and Simon Beddoes's marriage are there for everyone to see in the National Forest.

They asked guests to contribute towards planting a tree instead of writing the usual wedding gift list.

Louise and Simon, who are both 30 and live in Westbury Park, had enough donations to plant 66 trees in the National Forest in the Midlands.

Louise, an environmental consultant, said: "We didn't want a traditional wedding list as we felt we had already got all the possessions two people could possibly need and lived in a very small flat at the time.

"We also wanted at least part of the wedding to be carbon neutral.

"We felt by asking people to contribute to planting trees we could create a bit more of a lasting reminder of our wedding and also one that we and others could visit."

Louise and Simon, an aerospace engineer, both come from the Midlands, and their family and friends were among nearly 600 people who planted trees in the National Forest through its plantatree scheme.
