A thief faces being sentenced to a drug rehabilitation order after admitting stealing a bicycle and food.

Kieron Inker, 29, of Braemar Avenue, Filton, pleaded guilty to stealing meat worth £133 from a Co-op shop in Shirehampton and a bike worth £250 when he appeared before Bristol Magistrates' Court.

He also accepted that he was behind three further thefts at Co-op stores, where he took meat and cheese.

Crown prosecutor Rachel Garstang said Inker was filmed taking two boxes of meat and other products in the Co-op on April 5. She said the theft of the bike took place 15 days later.

Dan Woodman, defending, said Inker sold the bike to fund his drug habit. He said: "He has thrown himself at the mercy of the court and needs further help addressing his problems."

District judge Simon Cooper said Inker would need to be assessed to see if he was suitable for a community punishment with a drug rehabilitation order.
