Bristol man's Help for Heroes challenge
An Avonmouth engineer will be jogging 10 miles with a 35lb backpack to raise money for Help for Heroes.
On Saturday Stuart Weightman is aiming to undertake the gruelling tab (jog) from Avonmouth train station to Temple Meads in three hours.
The 41-year-old said he was motivated because his brother-in-law is in the Special Forces Support Group Parachute regiment and, having seen action in Iraq, is shortly to be deployed to Afghanistan.
He also has another brother-in-law who was in 3 Para and experienced fierce combat in Afghanistan in 2006.
Mr Weightman said: "The point behind a 10 mile tab is that it is part of the selection procedure for the Parachute Regiment.
"I have been training for the past month and have managed three 10-mile runs with the full weight, and it has taken me two and a half hours.
"I started out aiming to raise £500 but already have nearly £700, so it would be great if I could get to £1,000."
