A Montpelier man accused of sexually assaulting his babysitter told a jury she had stripped and danced in front of him.

Leroy Jones, 36, told a jury the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and her friend turned up at his home in the early hours of the morning when his wife was out.

He said the complainant, who was aged 16 at the time, pronounced she was a lesbian and stripped off for a bizarre dance routine. He told the court: "She was bouncing her breasts, she was showing off. You should check it out… she was moving her breasts like she could juggle them."

Jones, of Ashley Road, denies sexual assault in October last year.

The jury has heard his alleged victim say that Jones touched her improperly as she slept on a sofa after she had been taken to his house by his wife.

The girl claims Jones tried to kiss her and pull down her trousers.

Jones insisted he had only drunk one bottle of Polish beer on the night in question, and denied touching the girl improperly. He said that after the youngster stripped he threw her a blanket, before going off to feed one of his children and then to bed.

Jones denied finding the babysitters sexually attractive.

He said when the complainant's mother later phoned him he apologised to her – not because he had touched the girl inappropriately but because he had let her take her clothes off in his house.

Another babysitter told the jury there was never a time when Jones had either touched her or looked at her and made her feel uncomfortable.

The case continues.
