The inspectors' report said: "This is an outstanding school. The high level of attainment reached is due to the outstanding teaching that pupils receive. Lessons are carefully planned, with enjoyable activities that engage and challenge pupils."
It continued: "Pupils enjoy their lessons because the highly effective, innovative and exciting curriculum gives many opportunities for them to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge."
The report also noted that:
The pastoral care of pupils is excellent;
Leaders and managers, including the governing body, are highly effective.
All pupils, regardless of their ability, are encouraged, supported and challenged to extend their learning in many ways.
The excellent curriculum gives much enjoyment to pupils and engages them well in their learning.
Pupils feel safe because they are cared for well.
To further improve the school, inspectors recommend it monitors more closely the impact of actions, including those taken to improve community cohesion, to ensure the consistency of high quality teaching across the school.
Head teacher Adam Barber said: "We are delighted that Ofsted have given us an outstanding grading. We have a fantastic team of staff here and wonderful children who love coming to school. We say that Henleaze Junior School is a place where we can all enjoy learning together, and we are thrilled that Ofsted have validated our approach.
"We have an exciting curriculum, with lots of cross-curricular topic work, an emphasis on practical experience, arts, performance and outdoor learning. Ofsted were particularly impressed with our approach to teaching children how to become more effective learners.
"Staff are thrilled with the report. They work so hard all year round, not for the sake of impressing inspectors, but because they are dedicated professionals who want the very best for the children in our community. I am particularly pleased for them that their work has been recognised once again as outstanding by Ofsted."
Chairman of governors Jeff Hurran said: "There are many people to thank for this. First I want to thank the children. Their response to the education the school provides for them is outstanding. Next, a big thank-you to all our dedicated and hardworking teachers for creating such stimulating contexts for learning.
"Grateful thanks are also due to our support staff, in the classroom, the reprographics room, the office, the playgrounds, the kitchen and dining room and to our caretaker. We have a team working towards a common outcome, and that is that our children shall develop into and continue to be independent and successful learners.
"Thank you, too, to the parents and carers, who support the work of the school in so many ways. We will not be resting on our laurels, as there are always things we can do to improve our practice."
Bristol now has 25 primary schools or nurseries rated outstanding by the independent inspection body.
Cabinet member for children and young people Clare Campion-Smith said: "Congratulations to Henleaze Junior School on again achieving an outstanding judgement from Ofsted.
"The inspectors' report reflects the quality of teaching and learning at the school, which is consistently of a very high standard. This engages and challenges pupils, ensuring they achieve their best. Well done to all involved; staff, governors, parents and carers, and, of course, the children."

“Credit where due, and hopefully things have started to change, but this rating of "outstanding" lacks credibility when so many parents have had to withdraw their children or catch up elsewhere when this school has reached for the league tables rather than choose to help all.
No doubt many children are now helped more, but local state schools are supposed to be for everybody. If your child has issues or is in need of deserving help, many of us have found that this head wants to ignore his obligation to help you, and the governors don't want to know.
School is about partnership between parents, schools and pupils, and we have had to find this elsewhere.
Good luck HJS with progress on this.”
