A BRISTOL inventor says he could make millions from a new power tool station, designed in his home garage.

Chris Elsworthy, from Easton in Gordano, near Portishead, is already selling the patented design worldwide and has just secured distribution deals in the UK via the QVC television shopping channel and with Northern Tools, a mail order business with five million customers.

Mr Elsworthy, 32, is confident of achieving sales of £15million over the next 18 months – a massive boost for his small business but only a tiny proportion of a DIY retail market worth £7.9 billion in the UK alone.

Engineer Chris dreamed up the POWER8workshop while working from home and is now in discussions with DIY giants as B&Q and Screwfix.

The product combines a workstation and cordless power tools in a single unit, which means the user has more flexibility in terms of where they can work, as they do not need mains supply electricity.

One of the main innovations is a multi-function arm unit which transforms into a table light, drill, and two types of saw, depending on what you need at the time.

It can be used to store tools like a conventional tool box, but doubles up as a workstation as well.

Mr Elsworthy said he expected to sell at least 50,000 units, which retail at £299.99, worldwide by March 2010 through his business C Enterprise Ltd.

He said: "C Enterprise is a small operation at the moment.

"I designed the product working in the garage on my own. The business is based here and while production needs to happen in China – as it is a specialist manufacturer – we will remain in Bristol."
