The general manager of Bristol's Hotel du Vin has helped raised more than £100,000 by taking part in a sponsored walk.

Lorraine Jarvie was one of 35 staff from Hotel du Vin and Malmaison hotels who took part in a walk with golfer Colin Montgomerie and former rugby player Gavin Hastings.

The group walked 94 miles over five days along the West Highland Way to raise the cash.

Colin set up the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation following the death of his mother from lung cancer in 1991, with the aim of raising funds to provide practical and emotional support to those affected by cancer. The cause has been chosen as Hotel du Vin and Malmaison Group's official charity in Scotland for 2009/10.

In its first project, The Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation is raising funds to build a new centre with the Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre in Lanarkshire to provide practical and emotional support to cancer patients, their families and carers.
